Its Here!

Our new Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope, the iVue, arrived yesterday, I now have to get it set up and get the staff trained on its use.  This new device is a significant upgrade from our Retinal Thickness Analyzer, allowing me to see inside the structures in the front and back portion of the eye.  With clinical uses in contact lens fitting, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy and other pathologies, I will be able to provide even more comprehensive care to my patients.

A Way To Reduce The Likelihood That Your Kids Will Be Nearsighted?

Here’s a link to an article that covers a topic/concept that isn’t new, but keeps coming up.  If there is a link between near vision/reading and the development of myopia, this makes some senses.  I’m convinced that for most people, genetics play the single largest role in whether someone will become nearsighted, but for some patients, how they use their eyes as children may have a significant impact also.  Here’s a link to the article?

New Optical Package Pricing

There’s exciting news about our optical department.  I’ve decided to bring package pricing to our optical.  We will have three different levels of frame pricing with a great lens package to go with them.

Every eyewear package will feature a polycarbonate lens, a high quality anti-glare coating and will be available in single vision, lined bifocal or progressive multifocal design.   I’ve negotiated pricing with our optical lab that will allow us to deliver these packages to our patients at a considerable savings over any other optical in the area.

Packages start $179.00 for a single vision Rx in the lowest priced frame group and go up to $319.00 for a progressive multifocal lens in the most expensive frame category.  This represents up to a 40% savings on the package price.

This program does not allow us any flexibility on lens materials or other lens options such as “Transitions” lenses (lenses that get dark outdoors and are clear indoors) and this pricing can’t be combined with any vision care plan benefits, or our 50% off second complete pair promotions.

We will continue to have some frames which aren’t included in this program, these are the more expensive frames that we carry and include designers such as Mexx, Coach, D&G and Ray Ban.  Stop by the office and check out our new package program, I’m sure that you’ll be glad that you did!
