Bifocal Contact Lenses

One of my most satisfying groups of patients to help are the patients who need both distance and near vision correction in contact lenses. So many other eye care providers don’t enjoy working with the more complex vision correction needs of these patients while I relish the challenge.

There are many, many different lens types and designs, making It possible for most patients to enjoy good distance and near vision in contact lenses. If you would like to learn more about your vision correction options, please request an online consultation or make an appointment for us to disused your options.

January Is “Glaucoma Month”

Glaucoma is one of the most complex and interesting diseases that eye care providers diagnose and treat.  Besides not having any symptoms in the vast majority of cases, early Glaucoma is difficult to detect.  I use technology such as my Retinal Thickness Analyzer to perform the Vision Wellness Exam which helps detect glaucoma much earlier in the disease process than waiting for optic nerve damage to the extent that it is detectable with typical exam techniques.

Here is a great article from the Glaucoma Research Foundation for you to review about Glaucoma.  The only way to diagnose Glaucoma is a comprehensive eye examination, which is why regular eye care is so important, even if your vision is excellent.  If you are overdue for an eye exam, you can request one from this link, or call my office at 262-752-2020.

After Hours Emergency Care

I try to remind all of my patients that I’m available 24/7 for them in the event of an ocular emergency, but it seem that every month or so I end up seeing a patient on Monday to clean up the mess after they’ve been to one of the local urgent care centers for their ocular emergency.  While the doctors and staff at these centers are very well intentioned and well trained, they are poorly equipped to evaluate the vast majority of ocular emergencies.  Often times resulting in delayed resolution of the problem.

If you, a friend or family member have an ocular emergency, please don’t hesitate to call the office at any time.  Our voicemail system gives out the appropriate contact information for the doctor on call (99% of the time, me) and we’ll either call in an Rx or see you in the office to accurately diagnose and treat your emergency.  We do charge a fee for after hours care, but even with this fee (which may or may not be covered by your insurance) you’re going to end up getting taken care of quicker and for less.

Please don’t hesitate to “bother me”, its what I’m here for!

New Vision Care Plan Accepted

We’ve signed on as providers for EyeMed. Some local employers have recently switched from VSP. If you are one of our patients who works for one of these companies, we’re still in your network. The addition is fairly new, so we may not show up in the last list of providers, but rest assured that we’re still and “in network provider” if you’ve been switched to EyeMed.

We’re still learning how their authorization and submission services work, so please bear with us as we get up to speed with this new plan.
