Vision Care Plan Benefits

wpid-life-insurance-2010-11-29-22-38.jpgIf you are fortunate enough to have vision care benefits, be sure to utilize those benefits before they expire. Many of the vision care plans in our area are on an “annual benefit cycle” meaning that the benefits become available on January 1st and expire on December 31st. If you haven’t had your eye exam yet in 2010, you should find out if you are on one of the annual benefit cycle plans, and if so, what your benefits are and when they will expire.

If you want help looking up your Vision Service Plan benefits, feel free to contact the office via office@warreneyecarecenter.com and we’ll help you out. If you know that you have benefits and need to take advantage of them, please call the office at (262) 752-2020, email us at the address above or follow this link to request an appointment.

We look forward to seeing you in the office soon!

Area Events Page Added To Our Website

We’ve added a new page/service to our website.  Our new “Area Events” pod will list community events that may or may not have a health care connection.  If you are one of our patients and want to get the word out about your event, send me information about the event (including an URL for the event info on the web) and I’ll put it into our new area.

Our two first events listed are “Thanksgiving Racine” which is a free community Thanksgiving dinner consisting of turkey, gravy mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and other traditional Thanksgiving dishes, and December’s “FIrst Friday” a community wide event with live music, great food and shopping in downtown Racine.  I will be out of town for both events, but would love to have been able to attend both if I were going to be in town.

Facebook Page and Facebook Places Merged

We’ve merged our Facebook page and the listing for Warren Eye Care under Facebook Places.  This now allows us to offer deals to our patients when they “check in” at the office.  You can check out the most current Deal here.  We’re looking forward to being able to offer our patients a reward when they check in.  Be sure to take advantage of these deals when you’re in the office!

Online Consultations

wpid-logo-2010-11-21-17-39.png
I’ve been offering and performing online consultations via FuzeMeeting for my patients for a few months now.  This has been a very well received option for patients who are looking to learn more about our services such as specialty contact lenses, contact lenses after refractive surgery such as LASIK or RK, Vision Shaping Treatment or treatment of medical conditions.  If you or a family member would like to schedule an online consultation, follow this link or give us a call at the office.

Social Media-How Do You Use It?

wpid-imgres-2010-11-10-11-14.jpegI spent a great weekend in the Florida Keys with several optometrist friends, one of whom is a “heavy hitter” in eye care and social media. I learned a lot from him (Justin Bazan, OD) and we’re working to implement some of his ideas into my practice. Some of them don’t scale well here in SE Wisconsin, simply due to population density. There aren’t enough of us using social media and online tools to locate businesses and stay in touch with them.

wpid-yelp-2010-11-10-11-14.jpg

Look for us to increase our FaceBook activities, our Yelp offerings (more specials and promotions for Yelpers) and keep on blogging and Tweeting away. All of this made me wonder how my blog readers and patients use social media. I’m going to post a brief survey in an upcoming blog and eNewsletter to learn if there are better ways for us to stay in touch with you, look for that soon!
